Surgical Training Mission in Eastern Europe

Dr. Fishman was invited to join the faculty as a consultant for anterior cranial base endoscopic surgery and complex head & neck tumors.  He travelled to Bydgoszcz Poland in October and spent 3 month on a training mission.  He worked at the NATO Military Hospital as well as the Children's Hospital of Bydgoszcz and the Nicolas Copernicus University Hospital.  Some of the surgeries he performed included lymphangioma of the parotid gland and neck, deep neck congenital cysts and image guided surgery of the frontal and sphenoid sinuses.  During this mission, he also trained local surgeons in the reconstruction of the paralyzed face of adults and children, performing one of the first minimally invasive temporalis transfer surgeries in a child.
