Carotid Body Tumors are a form of paraganglioma similar to glomus tumors (glomus jugulare). They arise form the chemoreceptors of the carotid artery in the neck.  A comprehensive team approach is required involving interventional neurovascular embolization and close collaboration with our vascular surgery colleagues to safely and completely remove these tumors.

This talk shares my personal experience in developing cochlear implant electrodes — a journey that began in the mid-1990s and continues today. I discuss early design flaws, the controversies that divided the field, and how corporate ideologies often shaped technical directions. Over time, the designs have begun to converge toward safer and more physiologic concepts.
