Dr. Fishman headed a team of surgeons who performed a complex combined middle cranial fossa and retrolabyrinthine approach for the resection of a neurofibroma in a 14 year old patient with progressive facial palsy. The surgery was successful in removing the tumor and regaining facial nerve function that had been declining due to compression. Dr. Fishman lead a team of surgeons from the NATO Military Hospital in Bydgoszcz Poland to perform the first hearing preservation acoustic neuroma removal by the novel “Retrolabyrinthine Approach”. The surgery was performed by doctors and nurses in the NATO regional hospital and the team was successful in completely removing the tumor and preserving both hearing and facial function in the young patient.

Dr. Andrew J. Fishman was invited June 5, 2017 to the Children’s Hospital of Bydgoszcz Poland to consult with doctors to implant new Hybrid Cochlear Implant. Along with Dr. Jozef Meirzwinski, Dr. Fishman successfully implanted a child with severe hearing loss with the novel device.
